Some custom tactics created by Pro players and content creators need specific types of players to make tactics work due to player roles. We showcase different tactics for different budgets and skill levels. This also applies to Career mode where higher rated players with “plus” “plus” attributes improve the tactic. Check out our favourite custom made tactic below and links to others we recommend.

Best tactic EA FC 25

The best tactic EA FC 25 uses the 4-4-1-1 formation. With the tactics below and player roles this creates really good movement and chances while keeping a strong defence. The aim is to have players spread across the attacking zones providing different options. Enabling you to win more games or more importantly not lose them as easily. Out score your opponent and enjoy playing the game.

We used this tactic with a 20k Ultimate team where the players fit every role with one Plus. Comparing it to a more expensive team where some players didn’t fit the roles. We also played as Real Madrid v Liverpool on world class to see how the AI reacted on each team. The first image shows the formation and tactical set up. Including the player roles. The tactic code is below with analysis for people to import it for their team.

Firstly here is the custom tactic, formation and roles with a team where not many players fit those roles. The players positions generally and without the ball.

best fc 25 tactic with ball

Showing the tactic with the ball. Notice a full spread across the pitch with four players all in space attacking. The box to box midfielder can storm forward into the only vacant area as the most dangerous player on the team. The defenders struggle as even with five at the back one of them has to attempt to cover that runner or the playmaker. You will often find overloads having six v five, forcing the opponent to bring back midfielders to help. Creating little pockets of space for one twos or lobbed balls over the top.

Build up and defensive style

Because the build up is set to counter, players all move forward quicker. This gives players urgency and improves the AI to give options. On more balanced or defensive settings we found the attack too slow. Seeing the left attacking wingback fly forward as other players move forward too is awesome. Lots enjoy a high press defensive line but we found balanced improved the CB awareness. Especially using them as Stoppers, where players cover the space in front of them. While also retreating against longer through balls.

Best player roles EA FC 25

LM role areas fc 25

We chose the best player roles in EA FC 25 for our meta tacic. The amazing FUT.gg website squad builder shows what areas each player covers. Light green being their focus area with dark green being their boundary area. Unless you send players on runs they will occupy these spaces. Players can be set to more attacking or defensive depending on their role. But these are the most effective for this tactic. Obviously the left and right hand side can be swapped depending on your favourite side to attack. Or depending which players you prefer for the tactic.

  • ST as Poacher – Similar to get in behind the striker always looks to run off the shoulder.
  • LM as inside forward – Combined with an attacking wingback creates awesome attacks.
  • RM as winger – Combined with an attacking wingback creates awesome attacks.
  • Playmaker CAM on balanced – Holds the position and always in the space to create chances.
  • A holding CM on defend – Important player keeping the defensive shape.
  • Box to box CM on balanced – Key player driving the team in attack and defence.
  • LB as wingback on attack – This player will rampage down the wing for crosses or link up play.
  • RB as fullback on defend – Sitting back and covering space defensively.
  • Both CBs as stoppers – They step up into space together but remain defensive.

Look at how these affect the space on our analysis below.

Best EA FC 25 tactic code with analysis

Below shows our best tactic with a full team of one Plus for each player role. When you find players who fit the system like this the build up and defence is better. The players are more reactive and move together. As you start to use players with two Pluses for these roles they become even more responsive.

The image below expands on the feature above where light green showed the left midfielders key zones on the pitch. To be able to show so many players on the same graphic we have used different colours. Not adding the centre backs who basically cover the back three squares and the three squares in front of them.

With the left midfielder you can see the same zones as the image above but using small red squares. The bright red is the key zone showing how attack minded an inside forward player is. Looking at the left back (blue squares) they charge forward to become a winger (light blue). With less focus on the defensive squares (dark blue) due to being an attacking wingback.

The key player within this tactic is the box to box player. Covering the full length of the pitch make sure they have stamina and good all round stats. The blue squares show how influencial they are on the pitch. Obviously top players will always make tactics work better but we found this so effective using cheaper players too.
